Legal Question in Family Law in Michigan
Child Support Increases
My husbands ex keeps threating to go back to friend of the court and ask for more child support. We currently pay close to $1000.00 a month plus 50% of all activities and 65 % of all medical bills. His income has stayed the same, and hers has more than doubled. But we are married now. Does my income enter into the formula. (she will be married next month). I am worried she is going to bankrupt us. Can she?

Re: Child Support Increases
Threats mean nothing - you should only worry if he actually files a motion to take you to court to get an increase, at which time you should immediately retain a lawyer to protect your interests. Child support calculations take several factors into consideration, and I cannot provide a yes or no answer until fully reviewing the facts of your case, all of the parties' income, etc. It sounds like you are paying at least your fair share of everything, if not more, and therefore, I would recommend you dispute any motion that he files.
