Legal Question in Family Law in Michigan
child support
How do I go about opening a court ordered child support case that has been closed for about 8 years now. I haven't received one penny of child support from the biological father that I was married to when the said child was born. He also lives in a different state.

Re: child support
Dear Madam:
This is in response to your email of August 2, 2001.
You may first want to contact the Friend of the Court UIFSA department (Uniform Interstate Family Support Act) in the county where you reside. The enforce support orders when the payor is residing in another state. If you know the address of your ex husband and/or his employer the Friend of the Court will assist you in having an Income Withholding Order entered in that state. Although this may take some time, if the payor is employed, this process has been generally successful.
Sincerely,
