Legal Question in Family Law in Michigan
Child Support
My parents are divorced and my dad currently pays my mom child support. I, on the other hand, am living with a friends family. My Mom has agreed that she doesn't mind and doesn't need the child support and my dad doesn't mind me living here and wants the support money to go to my friends family. If my dad agrees to it and my mom won't take me, and the court agrees that they should support me since I am 17, does that mean that my mom and dad would split a child support payment which would be payable to my friends family. Is that possible and if it is can you describe the steps to make it happen please.
Thank you.

Re: Child Support
It is very possible. If they agree, then an order can be drafted by either a lawyer or themselves with the help of the Friend of the Court. It would seem to be much, much easier to simply have your mother mail the money to the friend's family. The fact that this simple solution was not mentioned kind of makes me think that your mother is not serious about paying the friend's family. Bill Stern 248-353-9400
