child support

I am recently divorced,i live in indiana and my ex lives in michigan,i adopted her daughter after we were married,we were apart almost six yrs without any contact at all when she finally filed for divorce,if i sighned away all parental rights would i still have to pay child support ,any advice at all would be a great help.thank you--name removed--petrie

Re: child support

The court would terminate your rights ONLY if her husband was standing ready to adopt. Otherwise, it won't happen.

If the child is adopted by someone else, any FUTURE child support would not be collected. However, any past child support that was due would still be owed.
