Legal Question in Family Law in Michigan

Child Support Requirements

My husband and I are filing divorce papers. This is an uncontested divorce. We want Joint Physical and Legal Custody with an approxiate 50/50 visitation. To who does the child support go to and what are the detailed guidelines for calculating the payment? The children will mainly be living in the house with the husband/father during the school year but we are looking for visitation which puts both of us in continuous contact with the children. Please advise.

Re: Child Support Requirements

Let me suggest something to make your life a lot simpler. Get an experienced divorce attorney to act as a mediator and prepare all your documents. It will be inexpensive. If you realize that you cannot resolve your differences, the mediator will bow out and you will both obtain your own lawyers. With children, the paperwork alone is too complex and you will be much happier getting a professional involved. William S. Stern
