Legal Question in Family Law in Michigan

Child support

Have show cause hearing for child support. I am CP and am not required to show up for this. I live in different state then NCP. I cannot make court date for hearing. NCP has no involvement with the child-and has not paid support in 14 yrs, also NCP is only required to pay a ridiculous amount of $20 per month so instead of going to the hearing can I communicate my concerns through a letter to the judge because I cannot afford to hire attorneyand I do not have the money to fly to the state where the hearing is being held.

Re: Child support

Who filed the Hearing to Show cause? If you don't have an attorney and you don't have to be there, who is going to be there? If you want the amount modified, that typically requires a motion to modify support. You're going to need to find a way to get that done, but will not be fruitful if NCP doesn't make enough to warrant a modification.
