Legal Question in Family Law in Michigan

child support

I have a 16 yr old son who I've been supporting since he was born. Now that I am married my son's mother wants to take me to F.O.C. because she feels she is entitled to more money. What are my options?

Re: child support

Child support calculations are based upon your income and the income of the mother--your wife's income is not counted or considered. If your son's mother files a Petition in Friend of the Court for a review of child support, Friend of the Court will conduct an investigation and review your income and her income, and will come up with a child support payment amount based upon those considerations (along with considerations of health care, tax exemptions, etc). If you feel the recommendation is not fair based upon the circumstances, you can file an objection to the recommendation. www.altonlawfirmplc.com
