At what age is a child able to choose wich parent they want to live with.

Until a child is 18 (19.5 in some cases) the court must determine who the custodial parent will be. There are 12 factors that the court must consider in making the custody decision, and unfortunately only one of those factors relates to the preference of the minor child.
Custody battles are long and very expensive affairs - and there is no guarantee that the "right" decision will be made.
May I suggest that if this is an issue in your family, it would be best if the child could work it out between the parents, and have BOTH parents consent to an arrangement.
