Collecting on Child Support Arrearage

Divorced in 1996. Child support ordered for my daughter in 1995 when divorce was filed. Ex husband never paid on time. Daughter is now 21. There is still an outstanding arrearage of more than $5,000. Washtenaw County Friend of the Court can't seem to do anything other than show cause hearings. Each time, ex husband does not show, and the judge puts a lien on his business (self employed.) How can I get more action? FOC says if they put a warrant out for his arrest, they wash their hands of it. Looks like the only way the police can get him is on other charges. The only way I can collect on that money is if he sells his business or gets arrested on other charges. Neither scenario is likely to happen. Do I have any other options?

Greetings; Yes, you do have other options. You can hire an attorney to file a motion with the court for contempt OR have the attorney follow up after you go ahead and have the FOC put out the warrant for him.
