Legal Question in Family Law in Michigan
Considered unfit
A friend's baby had a seizure. The hospital found blood on her brain and she was diagnosed with shaken baby syndrome. Social workers came in and interviewed the parents and considered them unfit so their baby was taken and placed with a family member. The parents are not allowed visitation until everything is finalized. What are the requirements or steps for social workers to go through before they make a final decision and what are my friends' rights? What steps does she need to take in order to get her daughter back? As her friend, what can I do?

Re: Considered unfit
As a friend, the best thing you can do is to convince the parents to hire an experienced and aggressive attorney to represent them. They are in serious danger right now.
I recommend Michael Cronkright as a well qualified attorney in Children's Protective Services cases. He can be reached at 1 8667665245.

Re: Considered unfit
Your friend needs a real good lawyer. This is the type of case that potentially needs lots of attention and time. For example, the child's records must be reviewed by a very good doctor with neurological expertise to see what else could account for the blood on the brain. Your friend may want to think about if it is possible that someone else could have done this because I have seen in the past where couples cover for each other, etc. This is a bad situation but tell your friend that the first step is to obtain a very good lawyer with expertise in such issues.
