How do I get a Contuance

My husband and I seperated over a year ago, there was a court order for support issued in Calhoun County 4-30-02,which has never been forthcoming. I recieved a notice of Hearing to modify support and for visitation ,it was sent to an old address in Calhoun County and I live in Grand Traverse County ;3 hours away ,Because of mail delay I only have 4 days till the hearing ;How can I get a continuance,so that I may retain legal services and or a change of venue?
