Legal Question in Family Law in Michigan
Court Orders on relationships with a 15 year old girl and a 17 year old boy
Well i'm 15 years old and my boyfriend is 17 years old. Him and his mom recently went to court for a child support hearing and when they came back he called and said that his father put a court order on him and because of our age difference the courts called it statutory rape if he becomes in any contact with me. So he lives about an hour away from me and we can no longer speak or see eachother. I was wondering how old we have to be before the court or his dad can no longer have any say in our relationship. So basically I want to know when it will be ''legal'' for me to see my boyfriend.

Well, if you care about him, you should refrain from having sexual relations with him because he could be charged with statutory rape. Even if you are a willing participant, your parents may file a complaint. If he wants to be rid of parental control by his parents, he can file for emancipation in the probate court.

I believe it is 16.
