Legal Question in Family Law in Michigan

I have a cousin who recently passed away, he has a baby girl with his ex girlfriend. They were not dating when he passed. She is now trying to take ownership over all of his things,she said "she knows the law" and threatened to show up at his parent's house with a sheriff so she can take his stuff. Is she allowed to do this?
