Legal Question in Family Law in Michigan

Custody information

We have no legal custody in place for our son. I would like to inquire about joint legal and physical custody, and how the process is started. I am engaged, and will be married in May 06, and she lives with a 17 year old who has joined the armed services, and possibly intends to leave the state to live with him. I have my son 3-5 days a week, and she the rest. I pay all the expenses at this point, and give her money weekly for food and needs. I would like to discuss with someone what my options are in the state of Michigan as a father who chooses not to be the ''weekend father''. I am not looking to go full custody, but unsure of what options I have. I am looking to do this within the next few months.

Re: Custody information

In your situation, it is mandatory for your life that you get some court order regarding custody as that will prevent her from leaving the state without court permission. The order will set forth visitation dates and support requirements. If it cannot be agreed upon, you will have to leave it to the court to decide these issues for you. If you'd like to discuss this with me, just give me a call to set up a meeting. While I used to give free consultations, I now require my hourly fee to be paid. For some reason, it seems to foster a better attorney/client relationship. My hourly fee is $200 per hour. William S. Stern 248-353-9400
