Legal Question in Family Law in Michigan
My daughter is 17 and has graduated high school, I have had custodial care of her throughout her whole life. Her bio dad was made to go to court through order test for paternity and paid 10 every two weeks until she was 10- never visited her. I dropped child support. He cares no insurance or pays for nothing. Her step father and I are here sole support. She wants to enter into the army. Army told me that I needed the bio dad consent. I know my husband can not give it but I should be able do this on own with out consent of bio dad? Correct? I called the county that handled the case and they would not clarify or give me any idea what my rights are or what is possible for my daughter. I dont want this to hold up my daughters future or her dreams because of non cooperation.

I do not know what the Army rules are. However, your husband has no standing to sign any legal agreement in behalf of your daughter because he did not adopt her. If this is what you want, have the bio father sign off on his parental rights and have her adopted by your husband.
Your daughter can just wait until she's 18. Then she's a legal adult and doesn't need parental permission.
