Debt responsibilty

We have massive credit card debt, however, the card is in my husbands name and I am just an authorized user. The credit card company tells me I am not responsible for paying the debt. I am in a bad & extremely sad marriage. I am considering divorce. Will I be held responsible for this credit card debt, or will I have to pay for it?

In the event of a divorce, if the debt was used for household things, you'll bear some responsibility. If it was used stictly for your husband's benefit (like going to the casino), then you will bear no responsibility. The credit card company cannot go after you directly. William S. Stern
