how to devide assets yet remain married

My husband and I want to separate our assets yet remain married---so that whats his is his---whats mine is mine.----all else remains as is----Lawyers can't seem to understand this---one suggests--legal seperation--one says seperate maintence----I claim a post nuptual agreement-------I want to remain on husbands health insurance---and we both want to have the other as benificiary---if the other dies-----(like it already is becaus of being married)-------please explain the differance between ---legal sep----sep maintence and pst nuptual-----and the condotions of each------thanks to anyone who can answer this

Hello, I have received a copy of your e-mail regarding dividing your assets. There are several ways to do that. You will probably end up with a post-nuptial agreement if you are staying together. If you are physically going to live apart you will probably have a separate maintenance order entered. Separate maintenance and a "legal separation" are usually considered the same thing.
