Disowning an adult child

Is it possible to disown an adult child? (Not just ''write them out of a will'' but to actually, legally sever all ties?)

To Whom It May Concern:

This is in response to your email of September 28, 2001, which this office received on November 6, 2001.

In Michigan, once a child reaches the legal age of majority, you are no longer responsible for him or her unless you are a court appointed guardian and/or conservator as of which this capacity goes beyond the age of majority.

Thank you for your question.

Very truly yours,

Nichols & Eberth, P.C.
