Legal Question in Family Law in Michigan

Divorce, Death, and Life Insurance

my husband and i separated on 5/12/97. he moved to michigan where he resided with his parents. we were married on 6/18/88. a life insurance policy was purchased on his life - he was owner and i was 100% beneficiary. he filed for divorce on 7/12/97. i counterclaimed. he died on 5/3/98. both divorce actions were still pending at the time of his death. there is reason to believe that he changed the beneficiary of this insurance policy - am not sure if it was before or after his divorce filing.

how do i go about reclaiming beneficiary status and how does "resulting trust" play into this scenario? and how does the fact that i was the sole supporter in this marriage and also paid the premiums of this policy play into this scenario?

any other information you can provide regarding this situation would be greatly appreciated. a quick response would also be greatly appreciated. thank you
