Legal Question in Family Law in Michigan

In my divorce decree it said my x-husband and I were to split the second mortgage fifty -fifty on the house. The house went in to Foreclose. I continued to make payment as told and he did not. My lawyer at the time told me to stop making payments and have the mortgage comp. deal with him. I have not heard from him or the mortgage comp. in 2 years. No payments were made after my last payment. My x-husband after 2 years writes me a letter stating he settled with the mortgage comp. and has payed it. He is demanding I pay my half to him and he wants it in 2 weeks. My question is can I deduct the payments that I all ready made from my half ?

Careful. What were the terms of the settlement. In equity you may owe less than your designated "half" if he entered into some kind of compromise. Need a little more detail here call us for a free consultation 877 887 9562.
