Legal Question in Family Law in Michigan
Divorce and property bought with Disability money
I am on Social Security Disability,
and my wife bought a
car with my first back-check and put
the car in her
name.
Recently, she packed up, said she
wanted a divorce,
and took the kids away, but left me
with the car. I use
the car to get to my therapy and
doctor appointments.
I don't live near public
transportation, and she is using
her parents' extra car right now.
Today, she called me, said that she
still did love me,
and told me that she didn't want a
divorce.... but said
we should stay separated to see if
we can work things
out... then she said it would be
best if I found another
apartment and gave her the car.
She has been extremely controlling
and limiting of
how/when/where I am allowed to
see my 2 children.
I'm just thankful that I do get to
see them a little bit.
They are my pride and joy.
Given the track record of control, I
am very distrustful
of her motives for wanting the
apartment and the car...
Was she committing social
security fraud by
purposefully registering the car in
her name with my
first Social Security back-check?
Her mixed signals...want to divorce
and then stay
married scare me. I need advice
soon!
