Legal Question in Family Law in Michigan
Divorce Question
Ok my nephew hired an atty for his divorce. There is a long list of things that have happened with his soon to be X that he has taken to the Atty. One was she took one of his unemployment checks signed and cashed it. Was turned into Unemployment and they sent papers to press chares. Atty has those to turn in. Well, in all the time he has had this atty he has paid him over $800 and this atty has not done anything except a couple letters. The last few months he has done NOTHING at all. He takes the phone calls and charges him at least $105 + for each phone call. And now he owes him over $900 for those and still Atty does NOTHING. But today he was told by the Atty that he was no longer his client until he paid the bill in full. Any recourse here against this Atty for not doing anything. The soon to be x is into drugs all the time been turned in but not caught yet. And so much more.
Can he get Atty in trouble for not doing his job? Should he get a new Atty? Can he finish the Divorce process without one? Final Divorce hearing is in October...
This Atty had the formal papers to get the unemployment check taken care of with cops and state. Not sure if he turned that in either. But Atty never calls him for anythin

Re: Divorce Question
If the attorney is no longer trusted by your nephew, a new attorney is a logical move. For more information, go to:
