Legal Question in Family Law in Michigan

After divorce settlement

In the terms of the divorce, I was to refinance in 90 days and pay him off an amount of $5500. That has been accomplished. We were to split the income tax 50/50 and he was to have 5 days after the receipt of the taxes to remove the remainder of his personal property from the garage between the hours of 8:00 am and 2:00 pm. (I have a PPO and harassment charges against him). Taxes were received 2/14. I notified him and he stated he would only meet me at 9:30 the next morning to cash because he was leaving state. I said I could not afford the time off work and suggested 12:45 or 5:30. He refused and said 9:30 or wait until following week and maybe never. He came in from ''out of state'' 2 days later to sign the quit claim deed and pick up $5500 check from mortgage company. Was seen in town with a date 2 days after that. Now will not contact regarding signing. I need tax money to repair automobile desperately. Am contacting bank for ideas. How can I get his things out of garage so I can use it and facilitate the completion of this process? What are my options? Need answer ASAP, don't think vehicle will hold out much longer.

Re: After divorce settlement

Who was your divorce lawyer, and why is he/she not helping you? It sounds as if you will need the assistance of the court. I suggest you retain a lawyer, either your divorce lawyer, or me, or someone else. The only way you will be able to compel your ex to comply with the divorce judgment is to take him to court. Just go before the judge to whom, the case was assigned and ask for enforcement of the judgment. William Stern 248-353-9400
