Legal Question in Family Law in Michigan
Divorce Settlements
Doing the settlement of divorce I (the father) was granted custody of my 16 year old daughter. MY x and I agree to sale the house, which been on the market now for 6 months. I was order to pay the morgage until it is sold.
My question is:
My daughter wants to go and live with her mother now, which we don't know where that is because she won't tell us. If I give her custody of our daughter now, is it possible for her to take me back to court and get legal custody of the house and live in it with our daughter and make me continue to pay the morgage until our daughter turns 18 and than sale it.
I pay her alomony of 1000 a month
I pay the morgage which is 1700 a month
She pay's me 38 a month child support.

Re: Divorce Settlements
How can you allow your daughter to go live with the mother and not know where that is? It is an absolute requirement of all courts that the parents inform the court of the whereabouts of the parents. The custody issue will not effect the property settlement. the iwshes of the daughter do not control who has custody. It is just a factor. William S. Stern
