Legal Question in Family Law in Michigan
Divorce transgender
If someone married a man. Then the man chose to become a woman, i.e., female hormones (not the full change, did not lose the male organ). However, changed his name to a her. Then does that mean that this woman is no longer married. The complication is all of the insurance, 401 K stuff. Dividing of the assets and debts. I am just curious though. Since the man she married no longer exists, then does the marriage exist? Fortunately there are no kids.

Re: Divorce transgender
You're treating the sex changed person as if he or she died. This is not the case. That person is still around. Therefore, the marriage exists until it ends either in divorce or annulment. There may be grounds for an annulment. Speak with a family law lawyer about this. William S. Stern
