Legal Question in Family Law in Michigan

divorce

I have a 7 yr old from a previous relationship and I have a 4 yr old from my husband. I recieve more child support $ from my ex than my husband earns. Since child support is not income and we are going to divorce, is the judge going to even care about that or will he say its irrelevent to the divorce?

Re: divorce

It may be brought up as the courts like to know about all sources of income, but it should not be a consideration or counted as your "income" when determining the appropriate amount of child support to be paid by your current husband. I would suggest you retain a family law lawyer to assist you with this process, even though you've been through it before, to ensure that all of your rights are protected and that someone is looking out for your best interests.

Please contact me should you decide to retain a lawyer.

Thanks.
