my estranged wife whants me to file for divorice, and i want custody of our daughter but they live in another state, who has jurisdiction

The divorce should be filed where the child has lived for at least 6 months. There could be exceptions to this advice and you ought to meet with an experienced family law attorney to discuss the particulars of your case.
