Legal Question in Family Law in Michigan

Emancipated Minor getting Child Support

Hello, My girlfriend has just recently became emancipated. She now wonders if she could get child support from her Dad. She is going to be turning 17 in a month. Her real mother never made her real Dad pay child support, because she felt like the real Dad spent enough money on her (her daughter) anyways. Now that she is emancipated and on her own. Her Dad nor Mother sends any money to help out. She now lives with my grandmother and also me some of the time. Can you tell me if this is at all possible. And if so, what first steps are there to take and how should she go about doing this. The more information the better. Thank you for your time. Its greatly appreciated.

Re: Emancipated Minor getting Child Support

Emancipated = adult. No child support.

This should have been made clear at the hearing at which the judge permitted the emancipation.
