Legal Question in Family Law in Michigan
Emancipation Of A Minor
I am 14-and-a-half years old, I'll be 15 February 25th,2006. I wanted to know if there were any other options for a minor to be an independent adult without thir parents having rights over them? I cannot get emancipated because I'm not 16. So can you give me some tips and information about other alternatives? Also, can a minor choose to want to be adopted by another adult without a parent's consent? What about equitable adoption? Nonbiological parents gaining custody of a minor without a parent's consent? Indepedent Living? Emancipation Of A Minor? Please respond as soon as possible

Re: Emancipation Of A Minor
OK, so you've got issues with your parents, like every other 14 year old. If that's the case, suck it up calm it down. Most 14 year olds don't think their parents know what they're doing and don't agree with their decisions. You'll make it through this OK. Also, feel free to speak with your school counselor or another adult that you trust.
If on the other hand you are being abused or neglected, call Child Protective Services in your county.

Thre is no good answer on this as long as they are not violating any child abuse laws. Plan your escape when you're a little older and the more finanically independent you become, the more you will be able to control your own destiny without input from the parents. You'll grow up fast and be stronger for all the grief. William S. Stern
