Legal Question in Family Law in Michigan
my father has mentally abused my mom, sister and i for many years. My mom is planning on walking out and divorceing him. What would the consequences, aside from my dad being mad, be if i walked out first and lived with a friend? I am 17 and will not be 18 until next year. i work at a bank making minumum wage if that helps in your answer.

Your mother should meet with an experienced family law attorney before doing anything. The attorney can also provide advice about your situation. You can't make a move without the consent of a parent.
