Legal Question in Family Law in Michigan

No fault - Adultery

I would like to know since Michigan is a no-fault divorce state do they take into account adultery on the part of one spouse? Man and woman are getting divorced and the man is already living with another woman and she is expecting his child. He has a child with his wife that he is in the process of divorcing. What about shared bills in this relationship. Will he be responsible for the ones incurred during the marriage even if in her name?? Thank you so much.

Re: No fault - Adultery

First of all, you need a good lawyer. Although Michigan is a no-fault divorce state, fault can be taken into account when it comes to property resolutions, such as who pays bills, etc. No fault only means that fault is irrelevant when it comes to the issue of obtaining the divorce itself. If the bills were incurred for joint household expenses, they are also the responsibility of the husband along with the wife. William Stern 248-353-9400
