Legal Question in Family Law in Michigan
My fiance was recently offered a really great job the catch is it is in Illinois and we live in Michigan. I have been divorced for 5 years and have full physical and joint legal custody of our two minor daughters from a previous relationship. My ex is more than $4,000 behind on support and I am constantly having to petition the FOC to make him pay the amount of his current payments. He does have current visitation with the girls, and I don't want to change that but with the current economy this is a great opportunity for the girls and us. I currently have a dead end job and we were forced to move in with my parents due to the bad economy. Is it hard to petition the court to allow us to move? I have a feeling my ex-husband isn't going to be supportive, even if it does benefit our kids.

You really lack the equities to request the move because you are not married. The fact that you have a "fiance" to the court means you have a boyfriend and you want to move with your boyfriend and sacrifice your children's relationship with their father. The support issue will not help you. One thing has nothing to do with the other. Therefore, the solution to your problem is get married and then request permission to move. You will be a lot more likely to get the court's permission that way.
