Legal Question in Family Law in Michigan
How do I file for an award I received from the court?
My ex filed a claim against me for child support for my oldest son who had been living with me about May of 2000.The other two had been living with her.The Judge ordered her to pay me about $2500 {about $62.50 a month from the time she had filed and until he turned 18. I represented myself because I could not afford an attorney. Her lawyer sent a request for proof of income. {which the Judge already had}At the time I didn't feel it was right to take money from her even though her suit backfired on her in court. We have absolutely no contact with each other. But now she has come into some money and flaunting it, and I feel it would not harm her to pay me what was granted. How do I start on my own to notify the court I never received any judgement from her.Thank you for your time and any assistance.

The Friends of the Court will probably get involved since there seems to be a dispute that has arose regarding the childrens support. The Friends of the Court would be the place to start. They will probably get a referral by the Court and assigna a caseworker or conduct a full referree hearing depending on the facts that are available. I would strongly recommend that you start with talking to someone at the Friends of the Court in your area and possibly seek out an attorney
