Legal Question in Family Law in Michigan

Filing An Appeal

If I appeal a decision made in court (should I lose), what information can be introduced in the appeal?

Can I introduce information that I did not get in during the first trial?

Thanks in advance!

Re: Filing An Appeal

Generally, no, you cannot introduce new evidence on appeal. The appeal is usually decided on the existing record and the appellate judge reviews whether the law was applied properly given the facts. Some appelate judges might consider new evidence, but it is not proper. For more info., please contact me at (248)851-3171.
