Legal Question in Family Law in Michigan

forms for court order

I got divorced 2 months ago and the court ordered my ex husband to pay me for the credit card debt in the settlement. He is now refusing to pay, what form do I have to fill out to get the court to make him pay? I think he is in contempt of court.

Re: forms for court order

There is no special form. You need to file a motion to enforce the judgment and hold him in contempt for violating the judgment. Have the bills totalled. Then have the court enter judgment against him for that amount. You'll need to prepare a judgment. Then, after expiration of 21 days, you can execute, perhaps by garnishing wages, etc. It is a lot easier and more productive to get a lawyer. The lawyer may be able to work something out with you financially so that you only pay a small amount now, try to get costs against your ex and put that in the judgment so that the lawyer can get paid further.
