Legal Question in Family Law in Michigan

friend of mine is going through a divorce in michigan that will be final in 3 weeks at the final court date. The wife who left and filed in the first place is threatening to delay it because she doesn't want him to move on and be happy with his new girlfriend. Can she delay it this close to the end and if so how and for how long? How can he keep her from continuing to play her games. He just wants to be done with her.

She could simply dismiss the case, which would set him back to the beginning. Unless he filed a counter-complaint for divorce, where he could be in control.
