To get full custody of child from mother

i need to know were to go to get the help for me to find and get custody of my child from a mother that has a mental illness.the mother and i have never been married and the child is about 1 years old. the mother has left the state and i have been trying to get an attorney but can not afford one and i heard about some group named fathers of america or something like that, that you pay a fee and they get you the legal help that you need.

Never heard of Fathers for America. You should contact your local Legal Aid. They will assist you with one of their attornies or refer you to a panel pro-Bono attorney. Good Luck.
