Legal Question in Family Law in Michigan

I have been with my girlfriend for the past four years on and off. We have a nine month old together and she has a six year old from a previous relationship. I bought a house six months ago and we all live together. The house is in my name and i got it with a private mortgage. My question is if we split up is it possible for her to somehow take the house from me? Would it be a bad idea for me to move out?

No she cannot take the house from you. Should you move out ? If you move out that may hurt your chances of becoming the primary physical custodian of the child. The non-custodial parent will pay child support. Who the child resides with is not the only factor but is a compelling one considering the court will examine who the child looks to for "guidance, discipline, the necessities of life, and parental comfort". Once the custodial environment is established with one parent it is much more difficult to convince the court it's in the best interest of the child to give primary custody to you.
