Legal Question in Family Law in Michigan
What are the grounds for annulment in Michigan?
My husband and I were married in Niles Michigan.WEe both live in Indiana. His Family is trying to get the marriage annuled and filed for anulment in Indiana Superior Court based on Fraud. However my atty. tells me that they will have to file this in Michigan as Indiana has no jurisdiction. I would like to know what the grounds would be for filing for an annulment in Michigan .? This gentleman is in his 80s and when His family found out that he wanted to marry me they immediately filed for guardianship stating he was incompetent.( which he isn't) The probate Ct.judge granted a temporary guardianship, pending test results from the local mental health care facility. The results were INconclusive and we did get married with out the families knowledge.( or the probate courts knowledge.) Is a person restricted from marriage ,eventhough he still is able to work and trouble shoot complex electrical problems? His Dr. says he does exhibit some signs of dementia ,but is NOT incompetent.

I'm sure that the laws in Indiana are almost identical to those in Michigan on this issue. Therefore, discuss this with your present attorney. Bill Stern
