Legal Question in Family Law in Michigan

Do I have to hire someone official to serve the proper papers to my husband, or can I have anyone serve them?

Anyone that is over the age of 18 and mentally competent can serve the documents. The only exception is that it cannot be you if you are a party to the case, eg the Plaintiff.
