Legal Question in Family Law in Michigan

Holidays/Parenting Time

My ex and i have Joint physical custody of our two children. He has them every weekend. Although we have some holidays specifically stated in our divorce decree-there is no meantion of Mothers/Fathers Day. Since each of these falls on Sun every year, this would be considered to be his normal parenting time. Does he have legal right to deny me this holiday with my children. My attorney said holidays over ride normal parenting time--if this is true, then why can i not have my children without filing an order for it first?
