Legal Question in Family Law in Michigan

My husband is 42,000 in debt from owed child support. 5,000 is owed to the state and the rest to his ex. she has agreed to sign off on her part. I need to know if a judge can refuse this even though they both came to an agreement. Judges typically dont care about the story behind why non payment especially when it was for most of her life. I need advice. We really need this takin care of so we can get a better start on life.

If the judge feels that it is not in the best interest of the child to aive the past due support, the judge can reject the agreement. It helps if you show some proof that the ex has substantial, independent means of support.
