Legal Question in Family Law in Michigan
What is included as child support?
my divorce decree states I am to receive 1/2 of the money spent for child care and activities up and above child support and to be reviewed every 6 mths. My ex is complaing that I am charging him for school supplies (pictures, back packs, field trips & spending money, clothes related to band etc) and new ski and golf equipment which is part of child activities. He is refusing to pay but I don't consider these things covered in child support and I am the custodial parent. Can he refuse to pay and what is considered in child support?

Re: What is included as child support?
It depends on the wording of your divorce judgment or child support order - if the order requires the father to pay half of school supplies, etc., then yes, he has to pay. If it doesn't say that, then he isn't required by law to do so. I suggest you retain a lawyer to review your orders and to see if the language needs to be revised to make it clear to both parties.
