Legal Question in Family Law in Michigan

Interstate Custody/Abuse Issue

My son is in his fathers custody, but he wants to live with me. He is getting emotionally abused by his father and his fathers live-in girlfriend. His father has also not been providing the support that he needs. My son wants to come live with me. This would be a Interstate custody issue. I keep hearing that I need to get a lawyer. Unfortunately at this time I cannot afford a lawyer. Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated. Is there a legal aid in Michigan that would be able to help me out, and who do I contact about my son being abused?

Interstate custody matters are pretty complicated and you really need an attorney. I am in IL, but there must be some MI resources for you.
