Legal Question in Family Law in Michigan

Investment started before divorce filed for, what now?

My husband and I started a profitable venture(we had some vacant real estate and was able to contract with a house mover to move some houses onto the properties. we will double our investment.I have not filed for divorce yet but have not lived in the house for serveral months. If I file before they are moved what will happen as far as the division of property goes?

You will each have an interest in the venture. Either of you can buy the other out. If you don't have the money now, you can arrange payment later. The fact that you are getting divorced will not affect your interest in the investment.

Re: Investment started before divorce filed for, what now?

You have an interest in this business venture since it can be viewed as a marital asset. The fact that you have left your husband should have no impact on the division of this property.
