Jury, or Just a Judge?

Is it possible to have a 'Jury' hear your custody dispute or, is it always 'only' before a 'Judge'?

Custody disputes are heaard only by a judge because family law matters were traditionally heard by courts of equity. Courts of Equity are historically derived from church courts in England and those matters were decided by a clergyman. Therefore, under our system, juries do not hear family law matters. William S.
