Legal Question in Family Law in Michigan

Kids home alone

My son and his wife have an eight year old daughter and think she is old enough to let herself in the house and be alone for about 20-30 minutes until one of them get home. I would like to know if there are any laws for Michigan, GenneseeCounty, City of

Fenton, regarding age of unattended children.

Re: Kids home alone

She is not old enough - trust me. Think how mature you were at that age. How would she react to someone knocking on the door, claiming they were a family member, or a fire in the house? Trust me, it's not a good idea.

The prior response is correct. Additionally, you do not want child protective services to come and accuse you of abuse or neglect of the child. It's not a good idea.
