Legal Question in Family Law in Michigan

legal seperation verses a divorce.

I have a friend that doesn't have access to a pc, so i am asking for her. Her husband filed for divorce and when she went to her lawyer she asked for a legal seperation in hopes of keeping the health ins, she is ill. Do they grant this usually, and is this concidered divorced, everything is dissolved upon the judge granting, or is just seprated able to go your own way, can she get back her maiden name, and are either one able to remarry, and if she is granted insurance through his employer ( he is retired ) would his new wife supercede and be able to get his insurance and her taken off. Thank you.

Your friend's situation is too complex to answer by internet. You said she went to her lawyre to ask the question. She should rely on her lawyer's advice because her lawyer will have a complete understanding of all the variable that would have an effect on the answer to her questions.

If he wants a divorce, they will be divorced, not separated. She can get back her maiden name.
