legally leave home

i am trying to find out at what age a minor may leave his or her home and live elsewhere, of his or her own choice, in the state of michigan, without being forced to go back home by the police or his or her parents?

I believe that it is 18, unless you get a court order declaring you an "emancipated" minor. Emancipated means you are totally financially independent of your family and self-supporting. Bill Stern
