Legal Question in Family Law in Michigan
ex lied, now I've been taken
Me ex husband lied to me, in legal papers and emails, about never asking for support if the boys could live with him. I believed him, and quit my job to go to massage school and college. I support the boys by buying all their material needs via savings. He sued me for support, and the ref gave it to him based on my past income. Arrearages and support are far more than my present income. He is likely to put me in jail or cause more istress due to his anger over the dvorece. The boys are 17 & 15.
Are there any precedent cases that can support my decision to ask for a reduction? What about an abatement of the money I already spent on them this year? Can I sue him for breach of agreement and mental distress?
Thanks,

It sounds like you have already had the hearing on the issues that you raise. If you went in with a competent lawyer, these issues have already been addressed. If you went in without a lawyer, you are stuck with the repercussions of that decision. William S. Stern
